Our trip to South Dakota was very fun. Dave and I left Thursday evening after I got off work. After stopping at the fireworks outlet where Dave's dad and sister work, we stopped at his parents' house to visit with his mom a bit before heading to our hotel for the night. My parents drove up Friday morning, and Dave, his mom and I met them at the Barnes & Noble in Sioux Falls around noon. I think the big meeting of the parentals went pretty well! :) How about I let the pictures do the talking?
Here's Dave posing on the rocks at Falls Park in Sioux Falls. My mom and sister had never seen the falls before, so it was fun doing the tourist-y thing with them. It was super busy there on the fourth, though; the city had provided a free lunch for everyone, and there were tons of people! The weather was gorgeous, though. I'm amazed how different the climate can be between just two states!

Aren't the falls pretty? Too bad they don't smell pretty!
Two views of the falls from the observation tower.
After seeing the falls, we had a late lunch at Pizza Ranch, a tasty chain that doesn't exist in Lincoln. Both Dave and his sister Lizzy have worked there. Then we went back to the hotel so my parents could check in and we could all have a little siesta in the afternoon. The fireworks show at the outlet store didn't start until after midnight, so we wanted to rest up a bit before that! We also went swimming in the afternoon (Dave, me and my sister, Kate). The hotel where we stayed had a super cool water slide that twisted all around on the outside of the building before dumping you back in the pool inside. Very fun. Then we all went back to Dave's parents' house where his mom had prepared a cookout for everybody.

Dave did the grilling! Practice for when we finally get a grill. ;)
Aww. :)
Lizzy! Unfortunately, both Lizzy and Bob (Dave's dad) were pretty busy with work while we were there, so we didn't get to see much of them.
The fireworks show was amazing, though! Not that we expected anything less from a bunch of pyro-experts, hehe.
To see the rest of the pictures, go here!
All in all, it was a very fun trip, although it was too short. I wish I hadn't had to work! But hopefully Dave and I can make it back up to South Dakota again sometime this summer. And maybe they can even make a trip down to Nebraska soon! We have to give Dave and his mom another chance to try to beat my mom and me at Mille Bornes. ;)
Bonne nuit, tout le monde!

Beautiful pictures. Doesn't look like your mom made it into any, what up with that? And your fireworks pictures and video are great. Good job on them.
Nice Firework pics... they turned out great! Were you using a tri-pod or just holding the camera super steady? I'm going to go check out the rest of your pictures now. Toodle loo.
We all had such a nice time there. Too bad your video didn't do the fireworks show justice... it was a great show!
