So Jenny and I have overcome a little hill in our mountain of our finances, and I wanted to boast about it, mostly to my mom who reads this. Hi Mom. :) Our new computer that we bought just last September is paid off! We had 12 months to pay it off before getting charged interest and we did it in 8 months and saved $250. Also, both our current credit cards carry a minimal to zero balance and if anything, is paid in full every month. Whether I turned 24 or we've been with State Farm for two years, our monthly premium is down $10. Our Netflix account is on hold until August because we were getting to be a best-case-scenario for them: our last DVD we kept for about a month or so before mailing it back. We're also finally making good progress on our student loans. Slow progress, but progress nonetheless.
Now we're actually going to be able to get a decent amount of our income into our online future-wedding-Dave-still-needs-to-propose savings account at ING Direct where we earn 3.0% interest, better than anything Wells Fargo or any traditional bank could give us. If anyone is interested, comment below and I'll send you a "referral" email to open a high-yield savings account like ours. You can even get an extra $25 (if your initial deposit is $250 or more - but there is no minimum balance required) and we get $10 bonus in our own account. It's a pretty sweet deal and a really easy, rewarding savings account. [End used car salesman pitch]
So do we get a gold star now? :)
Jenny and I had a fun day today. We woke up late in the morning, had orange danish together. She went to tutor while I had fun programming (I've been on such a roll with programming lately). When she got back, we took our big coin jar to Wells Fargo to have it counted. Major thanks to the nice teller on duty who had to lift our jar over the counter and then pour the entire jar out into the machine, which we both wish we could have seen in action. Out of all of the coins in the jar, only one was a foreign coin and didn't count.
So are you ready for the results? Jenny and I were both thinking around $250-275. Click 'read more' for the results! Drumroll please...
